Seattle PI Travel Section Features Distinctive Destination Ellensburg
Recognized in early March by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of 2007’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations, Ellensburg recently received another boost for local tourism and revitalization efforts when the community was featured in Seattle PI June 6th travel section.
The multiple page article featured several Downtown restaurants including the Dakota Café, Yellow Church Café, and Pearl’s on Pearls Wine Bar and Bistro. The story also highlighted Downtown’s growing arts presence including the Clymer Museum of Art the two Richard Beyer sculptures (the Bull at 4th and Pearl, and the Coyote and 3rd and Ruby) as well as the iconic Dick and Jane’s Spot.
The feature also includes a brief overview of Ellensburg’s history including the July 4, 1888 fire that destroyed much of downtown, and includes a stop at the Kittitas County Historical Museum located in the 1889 Cadwell building.
