Ellensburg Downtown Association Hosts Girls Night Out Celebration May 1st
The ladies of Ellensburg will crowd the streets Thursday May 1st from 5-8pm to enjoy the Ellensburg Downtown Association’s first annual Girls Night Out celebration.
This three-hour event will take place throughout downtown Ellensburg in 27 stores welcoming women of all ages through their doors. The evening will be an enjoyable time full of shopping, discounts, events, and fun. Participating women will pick up a Girls Night Out Passport, designated as either student for the underage crowd or an all-inclusive one for adults, and make their way to the numerous participating businesses. These passports will be available for students in the Ellensburg High School’s newspaper the Alutant, and for those 21 and over they are available online at www.myspace.com/ellensburgdowntown, or www.ellensburgdowntown.org and in various stores downtown.
Once in the stores, ladies will need to get their passports stamped to determine how many locations they have visited. At the end of the evening, all participants will be meeting at the Clymer Museum of Art to enter their passports, containing a minimum of 10 stamps, into a raffle for a number of great prizes.
This event will be a great way to kick off the spring that has been so long eluding us in Ellensburg. For one full night women in the burg will have an excuse to shop late and enjoy a night out.
The Ellensburg Downtown Association’s Promotions Committee is excited for this opportunity to reach out and include the Ellensburg High School student body in this promotion. “The High School’s enthusiasm in getting this event included in their newspaper the Alutant has been very encouraging.” noted CWU student Sarah Bertolani, who has been coordinating the event as part of her internship with the Ellensburg Downtown Association. “It’s exciting to work on an event that has so much support from so many groups throughout the community”.
Committee co-chair Dee Dosch is also very excited about the event. “ This is going to be a great first time celebration, with lots of exciting events and great prizes and we’d like to invite everyone to come out and join us for a fun filled evening in Downtown Ellensburg. “
A portion of the night’s proceeds will go to benefit the Kittitas County Relay for Life. Most participating businesses will be donating a percentage of their stores profits from the evening to the charity. Others will provide a donations box for the public to make their own contributions.
