Ellensburg Organizations Plan May 12 Celebration of Distinctive Destination award
On Saturday May 12th the Ellensburg Downtown Association, Ellensburg Chamber of Commerce, and Historic Ellensburg will be coordinating a community celebration of Ellensburg’s recent recognition by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of this year’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations.
The celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. downtown at the Rotary Pavilion, and along 4th Avenue between Main Street and Pearl Street.
As part of this celebration the groups are inviting the organizers of the various local community events and many year-round attractions and visitor facilities to set up booth showcasing their building, site or attraction during the event. The Ellensburg Downtown Association is also encouraging downtown merchants to take advantage of this celebration to showcase your unique businesses with window displays and by participating in the sidewalk sale.
Other events during the festivities will include the Farmers Market featuring children’s Musical performances throughout the day, A celebration of Bike to Work Month organized by the Cascade Land Conservancy, and a downtown scavenger hunt organized by students at Morgan Middle School.
Organizers have also developed a postcard commemorating Ellensburg’s recent designation as one of the National Trust’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations, and the pre stamped postcards will be available for the public to mail to their friends and family during the event.
