Ellensburg Downtown Association to kick off Monthly Business Improvement Series January 18th
The Ellensburg Downtown Association has partnered with the Ellensburg Public Library to host a monthly business improvement series beginning Thursday January 18th.
The Brown Bag Business Basics series will take place during the lunch hour (Noon to 1 p.m.) on the third Thursday of each month at the Ellensburg Public Library’s Hal Holmes Community Center, 209 N Ruby Street. The series is free to the public.
The Brown Bag Business Basics is a book review based seminar series. Each month a member of the Ellensburg Downtown Association’s economic restructuring committee or other local business owner will review a new business related book. The review will be followed by a general discussion of the featured topic and a list of other related titles.
Ellensburg Downtown Association Board member Chris Schmidt feels that this is a great opportunity for downtown business owners. “By working with our local businesses owners to review the books and present the information, we can really help localize the information and share it on a peer to peer basis.”
Schmidt added that this is also a great partnership with the Library and the local business community. “The library is in the process of adding a new business section and already has a wealth of informational resources both in books and online resources, and this series is a great opportunity to help our downtown businesses owners find those resources that may be beneficial for their business. Debby DeSoer and the Ellensburg Public Library deserve a huge “Thank you” from us and the Ellensburg Business Community as a whole. These kinds of partnerships demonstrate that Downtown Ellensburg is thriving and growing and worth putting time and effort into. “The library welcomes any suggestions of materials to purchase for its new Business Collection. We also have copies of the featured books available to check out,” Debby added.
The January 18th presentation will feature “Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping” by Paco Underhill, which will be reviewed by Randy Wheeler of the Ellensburg Pet Center.
February 15th will feature Mark Sanborn’s “The Fred Factor” and on March 15h the series will look at John Kotter’s latest book “Our Iceberg is Melting.”
Business owners who would like to suggest a title, or review a specific book as part of the series can contact the Ellensburg Downtown Association at 509-962-6246 or by email at info@ellensburgdowntown.org
