Welcome to the Daily Record’s second Downtown Edition. With Christmas nearly here you’ll find this month’s Downtown Edition filled with lots of last minute gift giving ideas for everyone on your list.
While I still have quite a bit of my own holiday shopping to do, at the Ellensburg Downtown Association office we are busy preparing for the coming year.
Starting in January we’ll be hosting a monthly business improvement series call Brown Bag Business Basics. The series is a partnership with the Ellensburg Public Library, the Hal Holmes Center, and the EDA, and will take place over the lunch hour every third Thursday at noon beginning January 18th.
We’ll also be working with downtown property owners to follow up on the concerns and issues raised during the November focus group meeting and will be working with the city to identify new incentives and tools to encourage building rehabilitation investment downtown.
The Ellensburg Downtown Association is looking forward to the New Year and the potential we see for downtown. With the recent relocation and expansion of Static, and Bibliomania, the opening of Audio Attic and two new businesses slated to go into the former location of the Mint, and new owners working to redevelop both the Arcade building and the Ostrander’s building, things are looking up for downtown.
There is still a great deal of work to do to revitalize our downtown but we are optimistic that we are headed in the right direction.
